Jesus replied, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again; But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. Not only this, that water I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
(John 4, 13-14)

Building our church

In December 2010, the Romanian community had the tremendous joy of opening the social hall of our mission, Saint Dimitrie the New, that is temporarily used as our church. The social hall represents the first phase of a much bigger project, that started in 2005 and has as the second and final goal the building of the actual church.

After the official opening of our mission, in May 2007, we concentrated all efforts in fulfilling our spiritual needs in a rented chapel in Boulder. During that time period we continued to develop the plan to build our own place for worship. With God’s mercy and the sustained help of the members of our community, this ambitious project took off a few years later.

Due to the generosity of Mrs. architect Meta Gruia, we received the preliminary sketches for the cultural-religious complex. With an outstanding professional career record and being familiar to this architectural concept (she is also the winner of several architectural competitions in Romania for orthodox churches), Mrs. Gruia presented us with a contemporary design that incorporates the majestic picks of Rocky Mountains, but also of a traditional Romanian architecture from Bucovina (Northeastern Romania), known as a cradle bastion of the Romanian orthodoxy.

Mrs. Gruia’s designs were the base of the project that was finalized by two other firms of architects from Colorado.

Please access this web address for a virtual tour of the Saint Dimitrie the New complex.

Also, view the phases of construction of the social hall through this slide show and follow along with the evolution of our dream that has now become a reality.

We would like to start the Second Phase as soon as possible. However, this will be possible only with the unanimous implication of our community. We thank everyone that contributed and continues to contribute to this development, that is still in the process of completion. With opened arms we invite all of you to take part in this project.

May God Bless you.
